On September 3, 2016, our team of artists and stylists came ready to glam up models for the Afrowear End of the Summer Fashion Expo. The event took place at The Reef in Downtown Los Angeles where vendors, designers, models, and fashion enthusiasts came together to celebrate fashion, culture and music.
We set up shop in the Expo at Booth B2 where we exhibited our new display unit for the first time! We had makeovers and show prices at the booth, while backstage was in full action. Poise took over backstage with rows of director’s chairs, back to back makeup set ups, and metallic balloons for photos, of course!
For the fashion show, the hair was styled with either classic loose waves or a clean top knot. There were two makeup looks. For the first look, our artists used HD Crème Foundation Pro Palettes for an even base, Mineral Pressed Eye Color Palette in neutral tones for the eyes and HD Crème Lip & Cheek Palette to create a nude lip. The second look was transitioned from the first by smoking out the eyes with our HD Crème Multitasking Palette as a base and setting it with our Mineral Pressed Eye Colors in Timeless and Taupe. To create the perfect dark shade, we mixed Frida Hydrating Luxe Lipstick with Pitch from the Multitasking Palette. For the male models, we kept the skin clean and evened skin tone.
The first clothing line down the runway was Afrowear Apparel. Latanya’s designs included form fitting dresses with bright and traditional camo, vibrant hoodies and hats all with their signature Afrowear logo. Power of Pretty worked the runway with two collections. The first was the swimsuit and office attire collection complete with styles that custom fit every shape. The second collection had their signature statement pencil skirts. From red sequins to gold metallics, this collection is full of gorgeous handmade designs.
Before the last line, our artists quickly transitioned the natural makeup into the bold statement look. Styled by Jay Taylor had both his men and women collections walk the runway simultaneously. The bold makeup look complimented Jay’s handmade statement bowties. Each bowtie had a unique custom design, whether it was embellished with pointed studs or elongated for a feminine touch.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Afrowear End of the Summer Fashion Expo with our glam team, the designers and everyone that we met. A huge thank you to Afrowear for having us!
